More Racism Toward The First Lady

An email was sent by the CEO  of the Nashville Hospitality Association, Walt Baker,  that compared our First Lady, Michelle Obama to Tarazan’s Cheeta which said, “I don’t care who you are, this is funny!”

Baker said, “It was done in the spirit of having some fun with some close friends.”

Not funny Mr Baker and I hope he ponders this while in an unemployment line. It’s a good thing this President had unemployment benefits extended:

Quoting Larry the Cable Guy…I don’t care who you are, this is funny…

I was at the store yesterday, and I ran into Tarzan! I asked him how it was going and if he was into anymore movies.

He told me that he could no longer make any more movies as he had severe arthritis in both shoulders and could no longer swing from vine to tree.

I asked how Jane was doing, he told me she was in bad shape, in a  nursing home, has Alzheimer’s and no longer recognizes anyone, how sad. I asked about Boy, and he told me that Boy had gone to the big city, got hooked up with bad women, drugs, alcohol, and the only time he heard from him was if he was in trouble or needed something.

I asked about Cheeta, he beamed and said she was doing good, had married a Lawyer and now lived in the White House!!!

I don’t know what’s more disturbing, the humorless “joke”, or Racist Baker’s mock spandex turtleneck. Yikes. In all seriousness though, what the hell is wrong with these backwards people?

You should be ashamed Mr Baker. The last thing we need is more apologists. The only way to not see a likeness to the chimp is to be blind. The similarity is clear. Besides, I’ve never gotten upset when people accuse me of having a job and contributing to society.

Listen to the liberals and minority hypocrites. Non-whites are the biggest racists on the planet. By the way, it’s about time we told the truth about slavery. The blacks were captured and sold other blacks. And, it wasn’t just whites that owned slaves in the U.S. – so did blacks.

And education is a terrible thing to waste but using oxygen for you stupid racist minorities and liberals is an even bigger waste…

Oh wow, I like it. Makes sense to me dude.

Hank, I agree. I don’t think it’s attractive or mature to compare people to animals, be they liberals OR conservatives (or anything else, for that matter).

So if you’re enraged, let’s break out the anger consistently, people, please.

Hank, it’s more dehumanizing because there is an actual history in our country of white people actually enslaving, raping, and killing black people and justifying it by saying that blacks are subhuman, most commonly using monkey imagery. You can’t simply pretend that context doesn’t exist and that it doesn’t make a difference in how people view the two situations.

Someone making fun of Bush, or any white person, as a chimp is seen as just making a mild personal insult, no different than calling someone a jackass or a pig. But someone making fun of a black person like that is seen as endorsing a racist theory used to justify the most shameful blights on our nation’s history.

This isn’t about disrespect to a First Lady or a President, it’s about casual approval of a vile slander used to justify actual horrific crimes.

Also, I’m pretty sure if someone invoked Nazi-era imagery against a Jew that they would be likewise criticized, even if the same imagery wouldn’t raise the same criticism if used against a non-Jew, so I don’t know what your point is in bringing that up.

  • Hank

As I said. It’s just hypocrisy. I’m not sure how portraying a white person as a monkey is any less dehumanizing than portraying a black person as a monkey. And didn’t Nazi Germany portray White Jewish People as rats and hyenas, among other animals.

I just don’t think you can cry foul for one but not the other. Personally, I find both references disrespectful and in poor taste.
