Right Wing Blogosphere’s Hissy Fit Over Obama’s Remark

With the right wing blogosphere having virtual orgasms over President Obama’s remark which was of course, taken out of context, they’ve ignored the obvious.  President Obama is fighting back.

The party of obstruction is clearly fighting for its life.

Titled, “Self-described mutt Barack Obama: Don’t ‘talk about me like a dog’

Telgraph:

Just when it seemed that Barack Obama couldn’t dig himself any deeper into the political hole he’s in, he does something really stupid. “Some powerful interests who had been dominating the agenda in Washington for a very long time and they’re not always happy with me,” he told a union crowd in Milwaukee. “They talk about me like a dog. That’s not in my prepared remarks, but it’s true.

It gets better:

The comment makes him look ridiculous. First off, there are inevitable racial overtones to it. To be treated “like a dog” is to be treated as something less than human. In the Muslim world, to call someone a dog is a pretty serious insult (and no, I’m not suggesting Obama is a Muslim).

Yes, he did. He suggested President Obama is a Muslim. The genius author of this fiasco of a post then suggested Obama is playing the race card. Can you say Michael Steele?

Who historically in the US has been treated as less than human? Blacks during the eras of slavery and segregation. During his campaign and since in office (the Henry Louis Gates fiasco was an exception) Obama has – to his credit – generally not sought to make racial comments or, to use that hackneyed term, “play the race card”. Now he’s going to be accused of doing so.

The other reason he looks stupid is that he himself has described both himself and black people in canine terms.

This post used: Muslim, race, ridiculous, stupid, politically disastrous, plucky, odd and race card, just to name a few, simply to discuss one sentence out of President Obama’s entire speech, which was not “stupid.

During the campaign on the race card issue:

NYT:

Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck,” Mr. McCain’s campaign manager, Rick Davis, charged in a statement with which Mr. McCain later said he agreed. “It’s divisive, negative, shameful and wrong.”

This was candidate Barack Obama’s “shameful” remark:

“So nobody really thinks that Bush or McCain have a real answer for the challenges we face, so what they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me,” Mr. Obama said in Springfield, Mo., echoing earlier remarks. “You know, he’s not patriotic enough. He’s got a funny name. You know, he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on those dollar bills, you know. He’s risky. That’s essentially the argument they’re making.”

Comments from the Telegraph post:

John Bailey:

“Unlike BO dogs are loyal”

Errol Flynn:

Perhaps few of you here understand how Muslims typically greet the Saudi King (at least those allowed to get close enough to him). They bow and kiss his hand.

Now watch this video clip showing someone who Toby has written about, doing exactly the same thing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd425zfw5Ew&NR=1

Then ask yourself … could someone with the name ‘Barack’, and who was part educated in Indonesia, and who kisses the hand of the “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques” … not be a Muslim??

My emphasis.

Amusing Bunni:

He insults dogs with his whining. He is more a snake, rat, or some slimy thing without a spine. I can’t wait until he’s impeached.

Cherokeekid:

The manner that the talk about Obama like a dog is that they blame him for stinking up the Country like a dog gets blamed for farting in a room.

I feel sorry for you Democrats. It looks like you only had the choice of nominating the dog or the bitch.

Anomaly100: (I couldn’t help myself)

Cherokeekid- I had no idea you were running for President during the last campaign. You were the one that mentioned “bitch” not me.

45govt replies to NYCSteve:

If we offend your libtard sensibilities, why are you here? We can stand it without yiu Stevie, it is not as if you have added anything but brain-dead fawning over your marxist disaster.

My emphasis.

HostileLogic:

Calling Obama a dog is an extreme insult to dogs.Obama is a Marxist cockroach.Damn! Now I feel as though I must apologize to cockroaches.”

American Thinker:

The most thin-skinned, whiny, name-calling and weak President EVER. We see the true character and personality in gaffes – when he is not plugged into the teleprompter or reading off the prepared remarks.

A good orator is lost on some if he isn’t reading from his palm, but instead uses a teleprompter like many Presidents before him. American Thinker obviously, refudiates Obama’s “dog” remark while at the same time calling him, “thin-skinned, whiny, name-calling and weak.”

Here’s the video which contains the aforementioned remarks by President Obama:

A more bipartisan, equally faulting Obama, and touting other points article which even included a quote, in context:

Political Hotsheet:

“I’m going to keep fighting, every single day, every single hour, every single minute, to turn this economy around; to put people back to work; to renew the American Dream for your families and for future generations,” the president said.

Using a metaphor he has employed a number of times before, Mr. Obama said Republicans “drove our economy into a ditch… And then they got the nerve to ask for the keys back!”

He added:

They’d have those special interests riding shotgun, then they’d hit the gas and we’d be right back in the ditch.”

Considering the right wing posts and the comments, yes, they talk about him like a “dog” but they are also calling him a stupid, Muslim dog, among other things.

We know better. Get out and vote.

We keep the keys!

the reaction to Obama saying that he is treated like a dog, which was said in great humor, is utterly ridiculous. the reactions that you provide here are almost insanely funny.

Even the one about how Muslims greet the King of Saudi Arabia was funny. It is common protocol in that part of the world not just for Muslims but for any dignitary visiting the King. It’s that little thing that they forget to tell you. Of course the protocol of kissing someone on the lips and holding their hand has to be forgotten when it was done in Crawford Texas. Gee that’s not an American form of greeting now is it? Gen. Bush was a Muslim?

And then to constantly bring up Moslems in the Dawg context is even funnier . To bring up Moslems in the context of the dog comment certainly comes from a mind that is reaching for something to say and knows it has no content.

Anyone was even part of a wit knows that a person who complains about being treated like a dog, and a person who laughs about being treated like a dog or two wholly different meanings. In the English language that is pretty much understood in many phrases of our language.

at the risk of being called an arrogant elitist by someone who does the same exact thing, I will say that these people need to step out from underneath the porch and see the sunshine

    • Hank

@Shiva, PLEASE pay attention!! Regarding Krauthammer’s comment and the “arrogant elitist” remark, I said, and I have said the same thing repeatedly: “And while I allow both sides can be guilty, I think it is much more prevalent from the Left.” Please endeavor to not divert attention from the subject by….well….making misleading comments such as the one above.

President Obama seems to be an intelligent young man. Personally, I feel he is well intentioned enough. But, as I have maintained from the outset, he lacks the experience and Political savvy to adequately execute the office of the Presidency. And he certainly lacks the political knowledge, clout and cajones to control the more radical elements of his own party.

The fringe elements of the Democratic Party have shamelessly used this President purely for his popularity, and much to his detriment. And in my opinion, he lacked the knowledgeable fortitude to hold them at bay.

Don’t blame anyone else. The Democratic Party has played as large a part in the destruction of the Obama Presidency as anyone else.

Has President Obama been “talked about like a dog” by his Political Adversaries? I’m sure he has. But his larger problem is that he has been shamelessly used and manipulated by members of his own party.

      • Shiva

@Hank, and if you are guilty of the same thing, then why bring it up? How nicely Krauthammer makes excuses for the party he supports. it’s okay for us to do it but I think the other ones do it more. Which is complete BS.

President Bush was tremendously inexperienced in politics except for being a governor. That does not make you a president. Any president, no matter the party, is surrounded by advisors. They as much as anything helped make the presidency, so your claim about experience and political savvy is not true. Several times he is thwarted the Republicans such as palin and beck, and right now is leaving the Republican Party down the road to its own ruin by advertising the fact that the Republican Party is totally not taking its responsibility.

the Obama administration is hardly in a destructive phase. As far as I see it has only problem is in not being strong enough to fight back at his detractors. But then again that would make it look like Bush and that’s not what we want at all

        • Hank

@Shiva, I can’t respond. This post makes little sense. Reads like something I might post at 3 in the morning after consuming too much alcohol.

          Have a good day.

@Shiva, Of course you cant respond.

@Shiva, You have to give them brownie points for trying to distract their people from a great speech. During the election process didn’t they try to ridicule Obama for being a good speaker? Now he’s ‘stupid’?
