Roger Ailes Tells Fox Hosts To ‘Tone It Down’ But Michelle Malkin Won’t STFU

After the tragedy that struck our nation, leaving six dead and 14 other victims injured, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Judge Roll and a nine year old girl, politicians from both sides of the aisle were in mourning, some calling for civil discourse.

President of Fox News, Roger Ailes said, his network and others in politics need to “tone it down.

I told all of our guys, shut up, tone it down, make your argument intellectually.  You don’t have to do it with bombast. I hope the other side does that. Listen, I have a picture of Sarah Palin hanging from the end of a rope.  They made a doll up like her and hung her.

Ailes must be referring to someone hung in effigy as a sign of protest. While Roger Ailes, the President spoke exclusively with Russel Simmons regarding the prevalent tension rising in the media, he defended the besieged Sarah Palin, saying a crosshairs target list is not unique to the former Governor of Alaska — the left does it too.

“But Ailes called the use of such imagery “bulls**t” and said “both sides are wrong, but they both do it.”

On “toning it down”, Ailes said:

“I told all of our guys, shut up, tone it down, make your argument intellectually,” the Fox News president said. “You don’t have to do it with bombast. I hope the other side does that.”

But Michelle Malkin wasn’t listening. This was on her website:

Confront them. Don’t be cowed into silence.

And don’t let the media whitewash the sins of the hypocritical Left in their naked attempt to suppress the law-abiding, constitutionally-protected, peaceful, vigorous political speech of the Right.

They want to play tu quo que in the middle of a national tragedy? They asked for it. They got it.

To present such detestable nonsense of “they do it too,” after a Democrat Congresswoman — an elected official — was shot at point blank range in the head, Malkin still can’t find it in herself to shut up and feign sympathy for the loss of lives.

Previously to the shooting, Giffords’s district office was vandalized resulting in a window being shot out.  Staffers were reportedly”kind of shaken up” after receiving numerous threats including “nasty language, foul language.”

In August of 2009 –  a handgun was dropped off at a Giffords town hall meeting, prompting calls to police. A spokesman said, “We have never felt the need before to notify law enforcement when we hold these events.”

Asked by the New York Post in the wake of the shooting if Giffords had any enemies, her father responded, “Yeah. The whole Tea Party.”

Being Congresswoman Gifford’s father he’s seen the violent actions and rhetoric taking place while his daughter was besieged with threats. That said, can American politics and their media supporters tone it down?

Michelle? Hello?

Where are some examples to support the claim that the left wing does it too? The knock on the left is they are constantly getting bullied by the right, not that they bully the right.

There are thousands of examples of right wing politicians, candidates, talk radio hosts, and Fox News personalities encouraging their audience to arms. Glenn Beck’s website features a picture of him holding a hand gun! Don’t retreat, reload! Second amendment remedies!

Saying “they do it, too!” is literally the defense of a 2 year old whose morals have not fully developed yet. Take responsibility, right wing. Put down your gun rhetoric and come up with some ideas.

      @Hamranhansenhansen,
I agree Ham…sen. However, the rabid base (on both sides) eats that kind of finger pointing up like it’s going out of style.

Maybe this was never the true case, but it always seemed to me that politics used to be the realm of the educated. Lawyers, doctors, and the like were ‘called’ into public service and handled themselves with dignity and each other with a minimum of courtesy. Now politicians, much like reality tv, feel they have to say the most inflammatory, provocative thing possible to get any attention.

As Ms. Palin said in her recent video, we do need to hold individuals accountable for their actions. However, people don’t exist or operate in a vaccum. The venom and bile being spewed is taken in by the general public AND the troubled individual. Words obviously have power to move people, otherwise we wouldn’t have these talking heads. If they really thought that their words didn’t have any effect, they’d stop spewing.

is everyone missing the point? why is there still all this finger pointing going on? its like siblings fighting! “he hit me first!” “but dad…she wiped a booger on me!” are you all serious? knock it off already. this a tragedy. not your personal soapbox. i’ll tell you what people take all your hate; your discourse and go out and do something to benefit society. just knock off the child like bickering.

@james, I think what you said can be applied to just about every news story since the W. Bush administration. We politicize everything and forget that politics is supposed to progress our nation, not antagonize it.

We should try talking and bargaining instead of stagnating. This applies to both sides of the aisle as the House is now under Republican control, and you can bet the Democrats will use the same strategy that the Republicans used: Block everything without so much as considering the consequences, and they will say, “But they did it first.”
