John Boehner Justifies the Jobs He Promised By Blaming Obama

When the February Jobs Report came out, Conservatives claimed that the job growth reported was their accomplishment, although they just gained control of the House — the report was from January.

Americans everywhere have been scratching their heads asking, “Where’s our jobs?”–  due to the House Speaker’s promise of job growth while campaigning for Republicans last year.

Promises are broken, not surprisingly, John Boehner, the House Promiser claims it’s President Obama’s fault that he can’t fulfill his promise.

John Boehner  issued the following statement regarding the latest employment figures released by the U.S. Department of Labor:

“Any improvement in the jobs situation for our country is welcome news, but unemployment is still far above where the Obama Administration promised it would be when it forced our children to pay for the ‘stimulus’ fiasco, which accelerated a government spending binge that continues to block our nation’s path to prosperity.

Bush sent out $152 billion in stimulus checks then followed up at the end of the year with a bailout package costing $700 billion,  end toxic debt and give leeway to the financial system. Some of this money went to  bonus Wall St.

President Obama’s stimulus package went toward: tax relief, social security hikes, unemployment hikes, infrastructure, housing, Health Care, education, energy, automobiles, security and law enforcement.

Big difference.

In this video from November 3rd, 2010, Eric Cantor on Fox News, states that job growth must be priority one.

What’s happened to creating jobs? Their priorities shifted as they’ve been otherwise engaged, even though Cantor states, they “picked up over 60 seats to obtain that goal.”

Union bashing, protests all across America, campaign lies on spending via a ‘Pledge to America’, jobs not created and lies about Death Panels that are obviously not here, are all disregarded by the same people that were voted into power.

Our economy has been adding private sector jobs for over five continuous months, going back to last October. Out of the jobs created, over 672,000 were created since then. Over 769,00 more were created between January of last year to July of 2010.

Instead of heralding the jobs report in the beginning of the year as a sign of our economy gaining, they claimed it was weak. Behind the flimsy campaign promise of job growth was a hidden agenda including, defunding Planned Parenthood, defunding NPR, giving tax cuts to the wealthiest. Tax cuts which are now afforded to the wealthy, could have aided in resolving part of our troublesome deficit.

Health Care Reform was watered down due to obstruction and the most blatant lies. Now they want the watered down, minuscule remainder of it eradicated – by any means necessary.

Campaigning will begin soon — when they can find a candidate. When they do, ask about the jobs, but don’t let them claim the accomplishments achieved by Democrats while they were in power.

    @Neosopheus

    I am well aware that TARP was passed at the end of the Bush era in 2008. I was against it then as I am now. I did not agree with everything Bush did and my feeling that banks should be allowed to fail (go bankrupt) when they screw up has not changed. I have no need for banks anymore. All they do is screw me over. I don’t want my taxpayer money used to help bail them out.

    I remember when TARP was passed. They made it sound like the world was going to come to an end if it was not passed. McCain made a big show of stopping his campaigning and going back to DC to get the bill passed in the final hour. And what happened? Jack happened. Big banks still failed. Banks are still failing and the economy is still faltering. TARP was a wast of money. All Obama/Pelosi/Reid have done since then is spend an even more unimaginable sum of money. None of which is helping the economy.

    Yes. I admit that liberals irritate me. I stated for you quite clearly my premise of how liberal ideas and policy ruined the economy. You even agreed with me that people who could not afford a mortgage should not have one. We can go back and talk about Bush all you want, but the housing bubble was created by Carter, Clinton, Fannie/Freddie and the misguided liberals who worked there like Barney Frank. If the normal checks and balances to getting a mortgage where in place then none of this would have happened and you and I would still be in business.

    @Neosopheus

    You want to talk about the housing bust eh? It wasn’t Bush’s fault. It wasn’t Obama’s fault either. I’m going to lay this out in really simple terms that even the most rabid ideologue Republican hater can understand.

    The housing crisis was created by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac buying up parcels of bad mortgages. They pressured the banks to make bad loans to make home ownership affordable for all. As soon as the ink was dry, the loans were packaged and bought up by Fannie/Freddie. Fannie/Freddie created the secondary market for mortgages that allowed all of this to happen. The original lender did not care about writing a bad loan because they were going to sell it off to Fannie/Freddie ASAP. This was liberal ideology run amok and the end result was the worst financial crisis in 70 years.

    Now who started the pressure on Fannie/Freddie to make bad loans. None other than Jimmy Carter with the Community Reinvestment Act. Bill Clinton and the 103rd Congress further increased the pressure and also allowed the mortages to be bundled and packaged as securities.

    Once all these mortgage backed securities were floating around the market, the banks on Wall Street started buying them up and re-selling them further compounding the situation. These bankers did not understand these securities and were selling them to generate huge commissions and pass the bad paper on to the next person. So the third element to all of this is the wizards on Wall Street who should have known better. The SEC should have caught this also.

    There you have it folks. The liberal idea that home ownership should be affordable to everyone regardless of circumstances trumped basic lending guidelines that were in place and ruined the economy. It ruined me and most of my family.

    And you wonder why I am pissed that Obama bailed out the banks and automobile companies? They screwed up and they deserved to fail just as I lost one of my businesses. The last thing we should be doing right now is giving these losers taxpayer money and as a Country we certainly should not be spending money we don’t have.

      @Bill,
      Let’s get something straight, Bill. George W. Bush IS responsible for TARP, aka the bank bailouts. He signed it into law in October of 2008. That is a demonstrable fact. If you don’t believe me, look it up. Your anger on that issue is wholly misplaced. Am I happy about TARP? Not at all. Am I happy about the automotive bailouts? Not at all. But consider what would have happened had our government not intervened: more than likely we would be in a full out depression of equal or greater magnitude than the Great Depression. (My grandmother and grandfather lived through the GD and it wasn’t pretty. Do yourself a favor and read some history about it.) It was the right thing to do on both accounts to protect us; us being citizens of the United States. That is the role of Our government after all, isn’t it? To protect us: We, the people of the United States of America?
      Why were we pushed to the brink of collapse? I can sum it up in one word: greed. Wall Street and the mortgage industry made money hand over fist during the housing boom, and made a whole bunch more after we bailed their sorry assess out. They stayed rich while we got poor. It was capitalism at an extreme and a potent example of what the dangers capitalism left unchecked.
      I bet you are more reasonable than you seem to be coming across here, but it does little good on your part of furthering a meaningful discussion by coming here and calling us names. Whether or not we are republican, democrat, conservative, or liberal doesn’t matter at all. The fact is first and foremost we are all Americans. We are all in the same boat. But instead of working together to make things better, we are constantly infighting. Calling each other names and drawing lines in the sand. Our boat isn’t doing so well, especially when we aren’t bailing out the water together. Look up ahead to the horizon and you will see another boat with a much smaller group within. Yep, it is the all powerful wealthy elite, laughing as we fight each other. In fact, that is their goal and they use the media to make it happen. And yes, they are very proficient and tenacious at accomplishing this goal because they know and fear what will happen if we stand together and call them out. Yet they aren’t suffering like we are. They are smoking their fine cigars and living a life of excess while you and I struggle to get by. Once in a while if we are lucky we might catch a scrap that they throw overboard, but then we fight about who gets what of it.
      Do you think that it is wrong that people should have access to the American dream of home ownership? I see nothing wrong with making mortgages affordable for as many people as possible. It would only make our neighborhoods and society stronger. Of course mortgages should only be given to those who are responsible and know how to live within their means. Unfortunately we live in a society where that isn’t taught; our society is one of excess and instant gratification and social status.
      The housing bubble burst under Bush. I am not saying he is wholly to blame but there were numerous warning signs. A lot of people who were vocal about the imminent crisis were flat out ignored. You cannot deny that it happened under his watch and that many people on both sides are complicit in what happened.
      You know those wars in Irag and Afghanistan have cost us over $1 trillion right? How can you not be angry about that? We are the ones, you and I and our children, who are left holding the bag on that one. What has it accomplished? How many lives has it cost? There is no justification for it, especially when we invaded Iraq under false pretenses. Do you remember Hans Blix? He was the head UN weapons inspector in Iraq. Right up before the war he expressed his doubt about Iraq having any WMD’s. And turns out he was absolutely right. Now on the other hand Obama bailed out the automobile companies and saved countless jobs. I guess you have no problem with spending obscene amounts of money fighting unjust wars rather than helping our your fellow Americans. Your neighbors, your friends, and everyday people on the street. Our manufacturing capability has diminished dramatically over the years and to let those companies fail would have been the final nail in the coffin for U.S. manufacturing. Is that what you want, Bill? I have a hard time believing that you do.
      You sit there and rip Obama because you are pissed and you need an outlet for your anger. I get it, Bill, I really do. But he has been the only leader in a long time to look out for the middle class. Health care costs have been skyrocketing over the years while our Congress has enjoyed the best healthcare in the world. Yes, we do have the best health care system in the world, but only for those who can afford it. Congress has stood by complacently as insurance companies have arbitrarily increased premiums and dropped paying customers just because they want to make more money. They are the death panels. They are the ones putting a value on human lives and it is despicable and highly immoral. How they can sleep at night is beyond me. When I could afford health insurance it was costing me over $2000 a month for my family. $24,000 a year, and it wasn’t anywhere near the quality of coverage compared to what Congress gets. So yeah, I am glad that Obama at least made an attempt to make things right for people like you and me.
      Bill, don’t forget that I am a person too. I have a family and I want the very best world for them. And I want it for you and everyone who is reading this. I am not your enemy. We are in this together and we are all getting screwed, but as soon as you call me a lousy liberal or whatever clever adjectives you can think of at the time you become blind and I am no longer a person to you. I become a screen name and an object of your anger. We, the working class; We, the people of the United States of America, need to wake up and lay down petty ideological bickering and start working together to make this country as great as it can be. And it starts by reaching out and shaking my hand and embracing me as a brother, not by clenching your fist in anger and spouting hatred. Together, we could make a meaningful difference; divided, we will fall. You choose.
