David Koch’s Group Tied to Election Fraud in Wisconsin

Americans for Prosperity, billionaire David Koch’s right wing front group, has been very busy in Wisconsin.  The Koch brothers have denied involvement in the past in their dealings with the Tea Party, but after news became prevalent of their interest in Wisconsin, this should come as no surprise.

Aug. 9 is the election date in Wisconsin, but absentee fliers were sent out stating to return them “before Aug. 11″ by Americans for Prosperity.

Politico reports that AFP mailed absentee ballots to Democrats in at least two Wisconsin State Senate recall districts containing instructions to return the paperwork after the election date. This stinks of election fraud — such dubious maneuvers to corrupt the voting process is a criminal offense which undermines the legitimacy of our democratic system.

The mailers, obtained by Politico’s reporter David Catanese, instruct constituents in targeted Democratic voter areas to return ballots for the Aug. 9 election to the city clerk “before Aug. 11″ which is obviously after the election.

One flier was discovered in Hudson, Wisc. where Democrat Shelly Moore is attempting to upend GOP State Sen. Sheila Harsdorf in District 10; the other was found in Kaukauna, where Democrat Nancy Nusbaum is challenging Sen. Robert Cowles in District 2.

This coincides with AFP purchasing $150,000 in ad time in Green Bay, Milwaukee and Madison to boost GOP candidates.

Previously his group ran hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of ads promoting Gov. Scott Walker and his union busting efforts:

….the Koch group Americans for Prosperity announced that it will air an ad smearing the protesters in Madison and calling on the state to support Walker’s power grab. As we noted on Friday, Koch has demanded that collective bargaining rights be curtailed for both private and public sector unions, a step beyond Walker’s already extreme move.

AFP helped large employers conduct captive meetings in order to urge workers into supporting conservative politicians.

Considering the recent Murdoch scandal, these words are almost prophetic now:

 

 How many people here read the Wall Street Journal editorial page?” asks Stephen Moore, who sits on the paper’s editorial board. The crowd responds enthusiastically. “What would we do,” he continues, “without the Wall Street Journal and Fox News, right? And Americans for Prosperity?”

 

With recall efforts looking dismal for Gov. Walker, the Koch brothers are forging ahead, by any means necessary to tout the embattled Governor falsely as a patriot working to better America — and they are pursuing this propagandist effort illegally.
