Republicans Eat their Own: More Red States Uninsured & Recipients of Welfare

While venturing about the Internet, making my daily visit to my favorite sites, this comment screamed a talking point that’s all too prevalent with Republicans recently. It’s hurtful, it’s unaware and without conscience. Most of all it’s false.

We’ve become a heartless nation when an uninsured man dies and it provokes applause from the audience. Ironically, most uninsured Americans are Republicans — it’s as if they’re unknowingly cheering for their own death.

 Vbdon commented on Digg.com:

Liberals can’t seem to understand why it is unjust to take health care away from a child whose parents have paid for it, and give it to a freeloader who preferred to spend his life’s income on sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

Better yet, Liberals think they can sell their ignorance as a campaign issue to gain votes from voters who pay for their health insurance and are watching their costs go up 40% because of the freeloaders that Obama is adding to the system.

No wonder Obama loses support every time he makes a speech. Now all liberals are following his lead.

Skycrabing replied:

Um, what about the people who were born into poverty (like me) and DON’T waste their money on sex and drugs etc etc? My father died when I was 10, and that left my mom with his debt, her college debt, his funeral costs, raising me and my brother, AND paying rent for the shitty apartment we lived in. We had to go on Medicaid, and my mom didn’t have health insurance for a while, and not because my mom is a “freeloader,” but because the circumstances that were thrown our way. We can’t afford not to have health care, because my mom has diabetes, and my brother has brain damage and could need care in the future. I’m guessing you were brought up in a family where none of what I mentioned was an issue.
Try paying bills, taxes, mortgage and a fuck load of other expenses and have someone try to take away the only safety net you have in case something happens. You would feel differently.

Firstly, no one takes insurance from a child and gives it to a ‘freeloader.’ - Vbdon’s comment is so full of obtuse disinformation and unconscionable thought, it’s almost a pity to blog it. But, sometimes it’s too compelling not to. The new health care law was enacted in order to make insurance affordable to everyone, not to take from one child, to give to another. When we stop taking care of our own, we are no longer America, the greatest country on Earth.

The aggressive machine of disinformation over the health care law perpetuated the ‘evil Socialist’ label — as if this country would instantly become an entirely Socialist country if we enjoyed the health care other thriving nations have.

If Republicans think for a moment that we believe none of them have preexisting conditions, or skyrocketing insurance premiums, they’re sadly mistaken. In fact, more red states are populated with welfare recipients and have to endure the hardship of being uninsured far more than blue states.

Every state in the top ten with the lowest level of uninsured residents is a blue state, and almost every state in the top ten with the highest level of uninsured residents is a red state. Exceptions are purple states and California.

What we’re witnessing with Republican talking points is akin to them beating the shit out of themselves. They are the ‘freeloaders’ (their word, not mine).

Single payer insures everyone and everyone pays through their paycheck. No freeloaders. Same way we pay for schools and firefighters – yes a tax. It’s just national, not local. So everyone pays and everyone is covered. Solves the problem of uninsured people and doesn’t allow for anyone to “opt-out” and not pay. Get’s rid of the concept the insurance companies have of making more money off the fewer people they help. It runs at cost. Basically Medicare for all. No insurance companies to deal with to deny you treatment. Just you and your doctor. It may be “government run” but government plays no part in treatment, just administration. Doctors deliver the care needed. So where’s the problem? Did you ever see “Sicko’? Did you see how much better healthcare is handled in other countries? No one should go bankrupt because they got sick.

What people don’t realise is that uninsured end up in emergency rooms and the people where the hospital emergency rooms are end up, force the cities and counties to pay the medical cost. There is no free lunch. When the federal government fails to pay, you and I as tax payers end up for the emergency room based medical care which costs 4 -5 times than normal insurance. People who avoid taking mathematics in high school form the majority of stupid citizens who don’t realise they are paying city/county taxes whether they want or not. So, be foolish and fight against health care.

Its funny how rep. say they are better educated but are so ignorant to the world around them. Its not freeloading it a need for a little help. being a single mother of a child with special needs make things difficult. I lost my job because of issues with my son, and when I went back to school I had to stop my classes because of the same. I had to get a lower paying job so that the hours wouldn’t interfere with my child’s care. My sons father has skipped out and gets jobs that pay cash and there is nothing child support enforcement can do since he shows no income. I am not afraid of hard work it is something I have been doing my whole life, yet these self absorbed idiots call people like me a freeloader because I ask for help. They would rather see my child and me die than to raise a finger to help. I think they need a big slice of humble pie. The system dehumanizes anyone that asks for help they don’t need help from these jerks with the silver spoon shoved where the sun don’t shine. The day you have to wonder how you are going to feed your child because you only have $1 in your pocket, and you go hungry so they don’t have to, then you can come back and say something. Till then open your eyes and stop being so blind to the world around you, or stfu!

@sicofit, Regrettably your story is quite common in today’s America it’s a shame that employers can’t see past their profits and help a struggling employee even with something as simple as a more flexible schedule.

It’s a damn shame about your sons father again all too common today, I’ve known several people like you in my lifetime and they would give you the shirt off their backs if they could be of help not to mention they are willing to work their asses off if given the chance.

As my screen name suggests I have been in a position of having a employee in a similar situation and tried to accommodate them as best I could and still be fair to the rest of my staff of course there were those who thought helping out the employee was a unfair burden on them after explaining my position they were still unwilling to help so I got rid of them instead never heard another peep from anyone else.

There are good hearted people out there, although now-a-days it doesn’t seem so at times don’t let the heartless bastards get you down may good fortune smile down on you and your son…
