Approval ratings for Congress have remained steady at an abysmally low rating — more voters than ever see the Republican agenda in Congress as extreme — and this comes straight from a new Rasmussen poll.
Rasmussen is typically a right leaning poll, so these results are startling:
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 35% of Likely Voters say it would be more accurate to describe the agenda of Republicans in Congress as mainstream, while 52% feel extreme is a more accurate description. Thirteen percent (13%) are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The questions asked:
1) In political terms, is Barack Obama more conservative than you are, more liberal than you are or about the same?
2) In political terms, is the average Republican in Congress more conservative than you are, more liberal than you are or about the same?
3) In political terms, is the average Democrat in Congress more conservative than you are, more liberal than you are or about the same?
4) Would it be more accurate to describe the agenda of Republicans in Congress as mainstream or extreme?
5) Would it be more accurate to describe the agenda of Democrats in Congress as mainstream or extreme?
This coming just after a new poll was released by a Republican polling company which found that 20% of Republicans are more likely to vote for Obama.
Jason Easley from PoliticusUSA reports:
The poll done by Republican polling firm Wenzel Strategies for World Net Daily found something similar to my own recent analysis of state polling data that the 2012 election is beginning to look like a replay of 2008. The Wenzel/WND poll turned up the surprising statistic that no matter who the Republican nominee is, one fifth of the Republican voters surveyed are leaning towards voting for President Obama.
You read it correctly. Those results come from a WorldNetDaily poll — the extreme right wing birther website and that’s rather telling. President Obama has been a fairly Conservative leader, but he’s been labeled by the right wing as an extreme leftist. The polls say otherwise, especially as the Tea Party has fizzled out. The polls might be more in their favor if Republicans supported one particular candidate. Just a hunch…
