South Carolina State Senator Says Women Are ‘Exterminating Kids like Bugs’

Today, Republican state Sen. Lee Bright stated in pushing a personhood amendment more than 99% of abortions are out of convenience – “exterminating kids like bugs”.

This looney character is following the mold of John Boehner.

John Boehner (R-OH) joked that women decide to have abortions because they find their pregnancies inconvenient, during his address at the Values Voter Summit this morning. “Like I told you, I have 11 brothers and sisters, my mother had us one at a time,” Boehner said. “I’m sure it wasn’t convenient for her. But I’m glad they’re all here.”

Bright is about as far right as they come. Here, take a look.

Continuing a pattern of attempts to assert South Carolina’s independence from the federal government, State Sen. Lee Bright, R-Roebuck, has introduced legislation that backs the creation of a new state currency that could protect the financial stability of the Palmetto State in the event of a breakdown of the Federal Reserve System.

So, again, this is why it’s important to stop sucking up to these people and realize they are not your friends. They are out to destroy you.

If South Carolina asked to succeed again, I don’t thing we, the Union, would fight another war to keep the slave states. Can’t fix stupid.

Hmm… Georgia was one of only four states that LOST jobs in 2011; in fact, it came in 48th in job growth. I would say that the lawmakers in Georgia should worry less about women not having children they can’t afford and about a “state currency” and they should worry more about getting some jobs down there.

First, his claim that women are “exterminating kids” out of “convenience” is extremely condescending to women who seek abortions. There are many valid reasons why a woman would seek out an abortion, not just out of “convenience.”

I will say that Bright is showing his true anti-abortion colors. A lot of anti-abortion rhetoric demonizes abortion providers and depicts women as victims, but underneath it all is contempt for women.
