Most politically aware voters watched the Republican National Convention and many noticed a missing element — what did the GOP do with all the ‘blah people’? The almost all white event, held in an arena built with taxpayer dollars on a ‘We built that’ theme was more of a circus with Klan members in attendance. At one point, one of the attendees had to be removed from the stadium after allegedly throwing nuts at a Black CNN camerawoman while yelling, “This is how we feed animals.” CNN confirmed the allegation, but no further comment was given. But, it didn’t end there. Mob mentality went into overdrive after a female Puerto Rican speaker came onto the stage. The anger expressed in the crowd is cringe worthy.
This isn’t your Daddy’s GOP. During the present time, we are witness to voter suppression tactics on steroids — Republicans have a clear lack of conscience in this regard and now, we know why.
Even the RNC Chairman looked deeply embarrassed over the attendees screaming, “USA! USA!” while shouting down a Puerto Rican speaker.
And do not dare say I’m ‘playing the race card.’
Update: 08.29.2012 6:35 pm
After Ron Paul’s delegates were discounted — wrongly, I might add — chaos ensued, which was the cataclysm for the Convention floor battle.
Due to a delegate-war — for want of a better term — Ron Paul supporters remained loyal to their candidate, some shouting expletives to Romney supporters, and in turn, “USA! USA!” was shouted back in chorus to the angry Paul supporters.
In doing so, the Puerto Rican speaker was shouted down, leaving her standing next to the embarrassed RNC Chairman.
To be clear, I am not backing down from my previous statements. The lack of respect shown for this woman is mindboggling. On top of that, this election is so damned fixed, proving that delegates do not actually nominate candidates. Money does.
And lastly, a big shout out to Matt.
