There are only five weeks left until Election Day and President Barack Obama is ahead in the battleground states. Obama is within reach of the 270 electoral votes needed to win a second term. Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s victory is narrowing.

AP reports, “To overtake Obama, Romney would need to quickly gain the upper hand in nearly all of the nine states where he and Obama are competing the hardest.”

On Fox News Sunday, Romney’s veep choice Paul Ryan said there’s time for the GOP ticket to win. “In these kinds of races people focus near the end, and that’s what’s happening now.”

An AP analysis shows that if the election were held today, Obama would win at least 271 electoral votes, with likely victories in the crucial states of Ohio and Iowa along with 19 other states and the District of Columbia. Romney would win 23 states for a total of 206.

Romney would need to garner the support of: Florida, Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina, New Hampshire and Virginia, which would put him at 267 votes, and upend Obama in either Ohio or Iowa, in order to win.

But, don’t get too cocky. Get out and vote.

Vote Wisely. Register to Vote.

“In these kinds of races people focus near the end, and that’s what’s happening now.” – Ryan,
Not certain this will be favorable as more people [ that hasn't already ] tune in and focus on this GOP circus act. Public appearance like the following doesn’t help either [ Fox New Sunday via Hpost ] Wallace asked Ryan, “Why aren’t you guys running away with this race? Let me pull up some of the statistics. …. “We’re gonna win this race,” Ryan said, to which Wallace responded, “But you’re not at this point. You’re losing.” …. Wallace wondered, “The fact that the message has not gotten through as effectively as it could, so far, is that your fault, the Romney campaign’s fault or is it the voters’ fault?”…. “It’s not the voter’s fault,” said Ryan. “I think the president has done an effective job at trying to confuse the issue, at trying to distort our positions, at trying to distract people, but at the end of the day I don’t think that’s going to work.”– http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/30/chris-wallace-paul-ryan_n_1926966.html
What’s refreshing about the Obama campaign’s to-date, they have yet to mudsling, they use the other team words verbatim , voting / professional records, public appearances in context. Thus Obama is using the GOP campaign itself as his greatest weapon and yes I suppose it is Obama’s fault they are loosing.

    • Paul Ryan

I disagree completely. The Obama campaign are a bunch of big meanies.

  • Mitt Romney

    I shall pray this away.
