Republicans who want to ‘help’ their party with a Sarah Palin run in 2016 (forgets the GOP Clown car is packed full)

With the handwringing, and soul searching in the Republican Party after they were given their marching orders by American voters, Conservative columnist Charlotte Allen has generously offered a suggestion to help the GOP.  Allen’s suggestion also highlights the problems in the Republican Party — her being one of them  – the GOP clown car is already packed full, and they finally kicked Sarah Palin out of the vehicle, but, Allen wants the Mama Grizzly to jump back in. And don’t we miss the lulz of it all anyway?

Mitt’s gone. I am now the best they can offer.

I’m not quite sure if Allen is secretly a leftist plant trying to kill off the remainder of her flailing party or if perhaps she has a great sense of humor, but either way, I’m down with this, “But I’ve got a suggestion for cutting short the GOP angst: Sarah Palin for president in 2016.”

And this, “Palin’s son Track is an Iraq war veteran, so she can be proudly patriotic without being labeled another George W. Bush.” Yes, yes we can label her another George W. Bush, you silly goose. If the shoe fits, wear it, embrace it, own it.

It’s not just Allen. The LA Times poll: Behold! 54 percent say yes, to a Palin run in 2016. Only 46 percent said no. I may have accidentally on purpose hit the ‘no’ option. For those who say (and I know you will) that this post is titled incorrectly, refer back to the 54 percent in favor of a Palin run).

Allen writes, “She’s hot, she’s blue collar, she’s electable.” That would be a ‘no’ on all three counts. Sarah is the Snooki of politics.

Let’s highlight some more ickiness in Allen’s suggestion.

Palin can more than keep up with the Democrats in appealing to voters’ emotions. Hardly anyone could be more blue collar than Palin, out on the fishing boat with her hunky blue-collar husband, Todd. Palin is “View”-ready, she’s “Ellen”-ready, she’s Kelly-and-Michael-ready.

Golly. Sarah’s “Hot” and her husband is “hunky” so vote for them….I mean her!

Gay marriage? Palin opposes it. But she is also a strong advocate of states’ rights, and I’m betting she’d be fine with letting states and their voters grapple with the issue on their own.

(my bold)

You betcha’! Are we really having a political discussion surrounding a far right wing Republican, who may or may not evolve on equal rights?

The article is teeming full of crazy talk. For example, “A Palin “war against women”? Hah! Not only is she a woman, she’s got a single-mom daughter, Bristol, to help with the swelling single-mom demographic.” Pregnant Bristol who lectured kids on abstinence? That one? Oh yeah, women’s rights activists will dutifully support her simply because she’s a woman, who wants to deny other women of their rights. No, that’s OK.

As a woman, I’d prefer to see Elizabeth Warren running or better yet, Hillary Clinton whose experience outweighs Sarah Palin’s — which brings the picture in my mind of the time a Sumo wrestler accidentally sat in my airplane seat, while I was still in it. I felt so insignificant. I felt like a tiny dying dot in the midst of a giant. I said my last prayer, then he finally realized after his wife nudged him (From across the aisle. She’s smart) that I was about to suffocate. The squashed passenger en route to Tokyo (that’s me) would be Sarah Palin running against Hillary Clinton. But, that is the last time I ever compare myself to Sarah Palin again.

On Hillary:

Furthermore, looks count in politics, and Palin at age 48, has it all over her possible competition, including Hillary Rodham Clinton, who will be 69 by election day 2016 and who let someone talk her into adopting the flowing blond locks of a college student, making her look like Brunnhilde in a small-town Wagner production. Men love Sarah Palin, and she loves men.

Stop the madness. Mitt Romney is 65 years old and will be the same age as Hillary in 2016. So, if Allen is going to feign to be a supporter of women, she shouldn’t be an ageist, while throwing a female version of misogyny into the mix. Obviously Allen voted for Mitt. They would be the same age, so he is capable because he’s a man, but Hillary won’t be because she’s a woman of the same age?

Allen leaves us with this:

Some Republicans will say Palin has too much baggage from 2008, and we need to look for a new Sarah Palin. But I don’t see what’s wrong with the one we’ve got.

Well, there is that Palin stench that even Fox News wants to wash off their network. But hey, go with Sarah Palin. Such a fine idea!

At the bottom of the article, “Charlotte Allen writes frequently about feminism, politics and religion.”

Feminism, really? Sarah Palin defended Rush Limbaugh’s ‘slut’ comments toward  Sandra Fluke. Sarah Palin has referred to herself as a frontier feminist’ and that doesn’t mean what she thinks it means.

While the discussion in the Republican Party is focusing on embracing all Americans, let’s not forget that Sarah Palin’s rallies were devoid of any race, except for hers. The all white boys’ club, will be extinct sometime in the near future, unless, some of them wake the fuck up.

Even Erick Erickson is finally getting it. America is not populated solely with old white people. So, if Erickson is seeing the light, then that leaves Allen in Bizarro World, without a Palin run.

There is still a Sarah Palin problem,  “It is a very good day for Palin too, who will now, as she said clearly last month, challenge the very existence of the Republican Party and the Eastern establishment as she has been doing from the first.” The GOP’s Palin problem is also their Tea Party problem — Allen West, Michele Bachmann, and their colleagues hanging onto their fringe base, all of whom would support a Sarah Palin run in 2016.
