As reported on Wonkette, yesterday, November 16, 2012, and picked up by Thom Hartmann on air, the story of Karl Rove and his perpetual Rat-Fucking machine is one that should go down in history.
At least, the day the “Rat-Fucker” (That is Rove’s term as described from his youthful days at the knee of Mentor Donald Segretti , working for CREEP, gaming and manipulating the election to get Nixon re-elected in 1972) got it turned back on him and was made to eat the criminal act he was trying to commit. Stealing the vote…again.
Watching the behavior of Karl on FOX, election night, one is left with a sense that there was more to it than the over-zealous belief that Romney had a chance to win with the people. That Rove was actually waiting for the “tide to turn” in Ohio and the election…an 11th hour full “Hail Mary” to pull Romney’s ass out of the fire. He acted like he was the proverbial “cat who caught the canary” – He just “KNEW” it was a sure thing; a done deal; a win for Romney…
Forget reality; Forget that Romney held nothing but palpable and blatant disdain for everyone not him – from young to old, poor and middle class; red, yellow, black and brown; Immigrant to natural born citizen….
Forget that Romney insulted large swaths of the populace with every speech and nearly every act – Attacking the 47%, attacking women’s rights; promoting war and blood shed; promising huge bucks to the Military Industrial Complex and to his crony capitalist rapists on Wall Street; Forget the lies and twisted joke of the GOP Convention; forget that Romney was a proven incompetent boob – Rove just KNEW that the people were going to sing for Romney in a “big surprise” election turn.
Millions of dollars spent with Karl as chosen leader, throwing money around, buying up time, space and internet troll – buying anything that wasn’t nailed down. Promises to donors of a “sure thing”; even allowing Romney to walk out on election night without considering the need for a concession speech. Fireworks at the ready, party band playing and tuning up for “Hail to the Chief ; The Red, The White Horse, and The Blue all at the “ready” and the shot just about to be squeezed off – The GOP’s shot at the heart of any remaining belief in the soul of the American people.
WHO the FUCK does that?
In the past 3 elections, the data used to predict a winner has been shown faulty. There was a time when “exit polls” (taken on the ground with interviews of actual voters as they LEAVE the polls) have always, always predicted outcome. In 2000 and 2004, they proved to be faulty.
New questions arose on just what could predict an election since all predictions were turned into “a failure to read the people” Bush lost, but he “won”.
It was chalked up to the genius of “Bush’s Brain” – Karl Rove….but was it genius?
In the book, ” Boss Rove: Inside Karl Rove’s Secret Kingdom of Power“, written by Craig Unger, the author discusses Karl’s fall from grace in 2007, when he was nearly indicted and pushed from the White House into, what some believed, to be a life-time ban from politics but he came back with the installment of the Citizen’s United decision by Bush’s Supreme Court and with the ability to pull big donations and support from the most avid and powerful monsters infesting the top “1%” – the wealthiest of the nation. Rove’s ground game of money and power is outlined there but it isn’t just money and Citizen’s United….
In an interview with “Harper’s”, September, 3, 2012, Mr. Unger was asked about the book including the section on a little company called “SmarTech” and Mr. Rove’s connections.
From that interview and article:
A large part of your book focuses on a computer-services company, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, called SmarTech. You note that after SmarTech began serving Ohio’s electoral returns at 11:14 p.m. on election night in 2004, inexplicable anomalies began to flood the vote totals—all of which favored George W. Bush. The company also appears repeatedly in your book as the inner sanctum of G.O.P. voting-technology strategies, and as the host of servers on which Karl Rove’s mysteriously vanishing emails were stored. Yet when you asked Rove about SmarTech, he insisted he “had no idea who it was.” What do you think of Rove’s denial, and why do you devote so much of your book to the company?
When I repeated the question to Rove, his response morphed into a classic Watergate-like non-denial denial in which he claimed to be “so many layers removed” from such operations that he didn’t “recall” the company. Whatever the state of his memory, Rove’s relationship to SmarTech is emblematic of how he operates: with no fingerprints, via entities that serve his interests in extraordinary ways even though he has no visible ties to them.
This company went through a bankruptcy, changes in ownership, and several different names before emerging as SmarTech. But much of its initial funding came through Mercer Reynolds and Bill DeWitt, who were important to George W. Bush’s personal and political finances. They bailed him out of financial trouble in the oil industry. DeWitt provided the entrée for Bush to invest in the Texas Rangers baseball team—the most lucrative deal of his life. And Reynolds raised well over $200 million for the party in 2004. After its birth as a start-up typical of the late Nineties dotcom boom, the company was transformed, thanks to Reynolds and DeWitt, into a political operation serving the Republican Party, the Bushes, and dozens of conservative groups.
In other words, Rove says he’s never heard of a company that was started by key backers and that hosted websites for George W. Bush, the Bush–Cheney transition team, dozens of prominent Republican politicians and political action committees, the Republican National Committee—and even Rove’s own emails.
As to its importance, there’s no reason why conservative groups should not have sophisticated technology. But SmarTech has done much more than that. Through one of its clients, GovTech, SmarTech hosted sites for the House Judiciary Committee, the House Intelligence Committee, and other nonpartisan governmental agencies. An important firewall had been breached—a highly partisan Republican company had gained sensitive information regarding the electoral process and national security.
This conflict of interest was most evident when SmarTech became the “failover” site for Ohio’s returns in 2004. The anomalous returns that came in after SmarTech’s servers kicked in have never been explained, and have fueled suspicions that the election was stolen. Americans deserve a full explanation, but key information has repeatedly vanished. Ultimately, a key potential witness, Mike Connell, died in a solo plane crash.
Finally, there are the missing emails. When White House staffers write emails as part of their work for the president, those emails are subject to the Presidential Records Act. Legally, they belong to the public at large, not to the president or his staffers. But Rove and more than eighty other White House staffers had their emails hosted on a Republican National Committee account that resided on SmarTech servers. Those emails triggered interest among investigators probing both the Valerie Plame affair and the U.S. attorneys scandal, but it later emerged that more than 5 million related emails had mysteriously gone missing. Later, in 2009, it was announced that as many as 22 million emails had been deleted. I wouldn’t be surprised if they contained some of the greatest secrets of the Bush-Cheney-Rove years, but I fear we will never find them.
The proverbial smoking gun?
Karl had his Supreme Court, next came the House of Representatives – taken in 2010 with the assist of the Koch boys and their controlled and funded marketing team, the Tea Party, – with the election of some of the most inbred and insane paranoid “Right-ists,” I have seen in my nearly 60 year lifetime. We found Louis “The Muslim Brotherhood has taken over the WH” Gohmert, Michelle “God told me to run for president” Bachmann (retaining her seat and getting more insane with every passing second), Joe Walsh, Rand Paul, Mike “I don’t know whether Barack Obama was born in the United States of America. I don’t know that. But I do know this, that in his heart, He’s not an American. He’s just not an American.” Coffman, Todd Akin, Allen West and the rest of the virtual Holiday Fruit and Nut ring of the “Tea Party Caucus.”
Over the past 2 years, Karl started pulling in money into his SuperPAC, running commercial spots and creating a convoluted macrame of donors and PAC funds – cross donating and laundering – as he pushed an agenda for control, of not just the House, but now setting his sites on the Senate and the White House – wanting to score the Trifecta of power over the United States and he would use anything…ANYTHING at his disposal.
Well it appears that some honest souls with a knack for code, found the synapse of “Bush’s Brain.”
