Ouch: Only 8 percent now say they are Tea Party members, approval ratings take a dive

According to a Rasmussen poll released Monday, only 8 percent identify themselves as Tea Party members. “Views of the Tea Party movement are at their lowest point ever, with voters for the first time evenly divided when asked to match the views of the average Tea Party member against those of the average member of Congress.  Only eight percent (8%) now say they are members of the Tea Party, down from a high of 24% in April 2010 just after passage of the national health care law” Rasmussen reports. Ouch.

It doesn't look like there will be a next time.

Only 30% of Likely U.S. Voters now have a favorable opinion of the Tea Party. Half (49%) of voters have an unfavorable view of the movement. Twenty-one percent (21%) are undecided.

In 2010, Twenty-four percent (24%) of U.S. voters said they consider themselves a part of the Tea Party movement. During their heyday, an overwhelming amount of  support swept the Tea Party into the House, after clamorous events and rallies.

And yet, we’re still hearing Tea Party rhetoric from politicians to ‘shut the government down’ which was popular previously.  Perhaps being the loudest kid of the block is always a good thing. Just yesterday, freshman tea party Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) appeared on Fox News Sunday stating, “I don’t think what Washington needs is more compromise.”

The dive in Tea Party support could be good news for John Boehner, who has found himself between a rock and the Tea Party since accepting the House Speaker’s gavel.

People are catching on that the Tea Party was created and directed to protect the wealthiest and most powerful individuals and corporations from paying there fair share of taxes, abiding by the laws that the rest of the American people do and allow them to destroy our laws through tort reform that protect Americans and our environment.
People are catching on that the Tea Party was created and directed to protect those elites that have been driving up costs, driving down wages, destroying our environment and help to create rules that benefit them and screw the the American people.
