Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) just called out Dick Cheney in a big way. Jones is an outspoken critic of the war in Afghanistan and said on Saturday at a conference that Lyndon Johnson is probably rotting in hell for the Vietnam war, and he probably needs to make room for former Vice President Dick Cheney. Yes, he went there. Jones also touted the documentary which aired on Rachel Maddow’s show titled, ‘Hubris: Selling the Iraq War.’ Jones said it was the best documentary he’s ever seen.
Via Huffington Post:
“Congress will not hold anyone to blame. Lyndon Johnson’s probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney,” Jones said at a Young Americans for Liberty conference in Raleigh, N.C. The group is a spinoff from former Rep. Ron Paul’s (R-Texas) 2008 presidential campaign.
Jones denounced the drone policy as “absolutely unconstitutional.”
Jones continued, “When that drone comes to America from a foreign country, we’re going to wonder what in the hell hit us. It was a drone.”
Yes, he is the ‘freedom fries’ guy:
Jones voted for the Iraq War and circulated a letter in 2003 to change the name of french fries to “freedom fries” in the House cafeterias. He has since regretted it and become a staunch opponent of the war.
It’s so easy for the wealthy to tout war, but when you’re in a position to make a difference, what you do can be a game changer. I appreciate his words, regardless of his party affiliation.
