Gohmert denies Republicans are ‘evil’ for cutting food stamps, says poor people use food stamps to buy king crab legs

June 21, 2013

Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert (R) weighed in on the Farm Bill which would drastically cut food stamp benefits and said that it’s not “evil” of Republicans cutting the program which would which would largely impact working families with children.

Because the day ends in a Y, Gohmert said something mind boggling.

Raw Story reports:

On the other hand, Gohmert said, poor people were using food stamps to buy food that other Americans could not afford. He claimed his “broken-hearted” constituents had repeatedly told him they had seen people use food stamps to buy king crab legs.

Because he does pay income tax, he doesn’t get more back than he pays in, he is actually helping pay for king crab legs when he can’t pay for them for himself,” Gohmert explained.

“How can you begrudge somebody who feels that way,” he added. “How can you begrudge anyone who steps up on behalf of constituents who feel that way. We don’t want anyone to go hungry, and from the amount of obesity in this country by people who we’re told do not have enough to eat, it does seem like we could have a debate about this issue without allegations about wanting to slap down or starve children.”

I think a food stamp challenge is in order here.  Certainly there will always be some people who abuse the system, much like there are Congressmen and women who abuse their power and we don’t cut their pay.

You are full of it Lady. Unless, you’re watching an elected official (or their maid) who’s used his position to get the EBT cards. My daughter’s on food stamps for herself and two children. They never cover for the month no matter how carefully she spends. It was reported a long time ago in the San Francisco Chronicle that when St. Ronny Raygun was Governor of California, he used to send his maid out with food stamps he obtained as Governor to buy food so he wouldn’t have to spend his own money on it.

Everybody should click under Sandra’s name and check on some of her other statements. She’s a completely unrepentant racist.

Bringing back the myth of the “welfare queens” driving Cadillacs to the welfare office. You know what breaks my heart. Corporate welfare that uses their money to poison the food and water of the American people. Corporate welfare bums who use their money to throw people out of work in America so they can set up sweat shops overseas. It’s Ghomert. He’s the guy who pulled the delusion of “terror babies” completely out of his ass. Even the FBI said he was full of it.

Have you ever heard of an Errand Service? Somebody carrying 6 cards may be shopping for 6 different people. And using cash or credit cards for others.

Those so called King Crab legs would take care of food for a week. Guess they would have to starve for 6 days after that

You have to admire Louie’s ability to put terabytes of bullshit out through a 4 bit processor.

“Louie is an idiot” Saying he is a Repug and idiot is a redundancy in terms.

He is a useful idiot to the GOP. Kinda like have a court jester perform and distract while the king’s men pick the pockets of the poor and unknowing.

Him being an idiot is a feature, not a bug.
