Christian Pastor, "The govt should use the death penalty on homosexuals" and "It's wrong for a wife to refuse sex"

Fundamentalist Pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona, appeared on an Irish radio show, apparently to make Fundies in American look even worse than the public perceives them to be. There’s over an hour’s worth of dialogue and Patheos.com points out the highlights., which include, .”It is wrong for a wife to refuse sex to her husband. That statement is only trumped by a call for death, “I believe that the government should use the death penalty on murderers, rapists, homosexuals.” Mr. Pastor guy goes on to say that he listens to his wife’s opinion, then tells her what to do. Anderson has fathered seven children.

He wants to kill the FABULOUS people.

This sociopath wants to kill the FABULOUS people.

Via Patheos:

17:50: Anderson talks about the social order in his household.

39:05: Someone asks what the pastor would do if he came home, wanted sex, and his wife said no.

51:00: The host asks Anderson what he thinks about homosexuality.

1:04:16: After the host blasts Anderson for taking the Bible too literally.

:

That last one’s followed by a hilarious debate on Creationism during which Anderson claims that finding fossils of dinosaurs proves the Bible is true because dinosaurs appear in the Bible…

Since you’ve been brave enough to listen, we will be handing out free virtual aspirin at the exit. Please stand in single file. Thank you!

    • dominickJ

Yea a lobotomy should do the trick!!!

        OH yea Fontal Lobe!!! ;o)

        • BanditBasheert

I’m betting he has already tried that.

        • dominickJ

He’s an Evangelical; HE WOULD LOVE IT!!!!! LOL–really though…

          • dominickJ

Any way it Has to be FRONTAL LOBE Lobotomy!!!

  • juicyfruityyy

About 4 days ago. I had 2 of his disciples, appear at front door. They wanted to recite the bible and then asked me- would I pray with them. I refused. They got angry. I said that if we prayed together, our prayers wouldn’t be the same, as my prayers and words, wouldn’t be from a scripture, that would appear in the bible.

If you are allergic to aspirin, be sure and read labels on bottles. There are so many OTC pain meds that contain aspirin you might miss.

His wife has a blog. Here’s the opening for one posting: As a citizen of the US, I have a right to vote. However, I do not exercise this right, because I believe that based on the Bible, it is wrong for women to vote.

    • Rhonda Lowenstein

And yet in biblical times, did they even have elections?? Clearly this woman needs help. This is psychological abuse.

      • Cosmic_Surfer

        Free men voted in Rome

        • http://www.tumblr.com/blog/akinsc Carla Akins

Spartans – now they had an idea. Women ran everything…

        • Rhonda Lowenstein

Well free women need to vote NOW before we aren’t any longer.

      • http://www.tumblr.com/blog/akinsc Carla Akins

I believe you’re right. Brainwashing, stockholm syndrome, call it what you want. If an adult does not feel free to speak their mind to their spouse without reprisal, I’d call that abuse. Imagine what those very young impressionable minds are learning.

      • BanditBasheert

I would love to know what her father was like.

    • Scooter Livingston

I’m surprised he allows his wife to have a blog or to even go online…

      • BanditBasheert

He probably writes it for her.

  • Rhonda Lowenstein

Seeing as how men like this are constantly telling women to keep their legs closed if they don’t want to get pregnant or be forced by the right wing freak show to give birth, women have to right to refuse sex, ESPECIALLY to men like this. If I had a husband like this, I would refuse sex to him all the time.

  • markdouglas

The bible also says you can whip your slave woman TO DEATH for no apparent reason, as long as she does not die that day. If you think that doesnt matter, remember this, Southern states based their slavery and their government on these “great biblical truths” We don’t teach today how Southern leaders were radical religious zealots, at least in their excuses for slavery, torture, and rape.

Yes, torture. Even Robert E Lee wrote that God ordained and intended slaves to feel “painful discipline” because “pain is necessary for their instruction” Lee did not just talk like this, his slave ledgers show he paid extra for 14 year old girls, and paid to have them whipped if they tried to run away.

Now think of this — Lee paid 34x extra for 14 year old girl. Why? Could she pick 34x the cotton? No. In fact, Lee didn’t grow cotton. Lee’s cash crop was SLAVES. He sold or rented out SLAVES, humans. Yeah, I know people are told otherwise, but learn about his slave ledgers which document this.

The point is, these guys got quite a deal by biblical excuses — Lee got slaves, rich, status. He got to be the king. This guy above, HE gets to be the boss, tells his wife what to do, etc. She agrees? Fine, thats great, agree. Point is, this power trip of excuses from the bible can get quickly out of hand

What happens when the oldest child gets old enough to rebel? Face it, that’s their (kids) job, is to test the restraints so they can become independent. Seven kids – it’s going to happen, repeatedly.

      • searambler

Sadly, too often, misogynist control freaks like this brainwash their children into thinking the same way as them. Look at those fuckers in the Westboro Baptist Church. Being raised by a monster like this guy can and often does result in damaged children who become damaged adults…

        • http://www.tumblr.com/blog/akinsc Carla Akins

you are so right, they meet and marry men that treat them poorly or worse because it’s all they know. It’s so very hard to break the cycle.

Nothing like living one’s life according to
fantasies and myths, written by ignorant goat-fockers 2,000 years ago

    • http://www.tumblr.com/blog/akinsc Carla Akins

truer words…of course he picks and chooses the parts he likes – I would have at least some modicum of respect for the man if he lived every tenant of the bible. clearly he’s a sociopath and a big fish in a very small pond where he has control. I truly fear for his children once they become teens (his oldest is 6), this could escalate into a domestic issue quickly. BTW – I’m stealing goat-fockers to use in my local paper, with your permission of course. :-D

      • BanditBasheert

Most people who talk and feel this way do pick and choose their bible passages. It’s all they’ve got.

  • Scooter Livingston

This is the same guy who openly prayed for the death of Obama.

    • http://www.tumblr.com/blog/akinsc Carla Akins

Good to know, not surprised of course but that makes sense. I couldn’t listen to the entire thing. Stopped about halfway – was curious how he planned to use the death penalty on gays and from a legal standpoint how do you appeal that ruling?

    • http://FreakoutNation.com Anomaly 100

Is it? I had no idea.

    • dominickJ

I thought so. SHIT for BRAINS!!!

    • BanditBasheert

That must be in his bible too.

  • http://www.kogcc.net/ R Joseph Owles

Ironically, the Romans felt that Christians should receive the death penalty just for being Christian, no matter how law abiding they were. You would think a religious based around a man who received the death penalty, and His followers who received the death penalty would not be so eager to use the death penalty on others. http://www.kogcc.net

I refuse to listen to some pea-brained matchbook pastor who wants to kill those in the LGBT community. We may yet have to tamp down the idiocy of the Christian Right. I heard one preacher on the Radio say because others of his profession were supporting gay marriage, there may come a time when those who believe in a literal translation of the Bible will be forced to seek other shores where they may worship as they wish. Wouldn’t that be heavenly?!

  • rimpy

not saying I agree, but I will make the observation that if you do not apply the law evenly, this sort of backlash will happen. Never forget human nature (which democrats never met)

    • http://www.tumblr.com/blog/akinsc Carla Akins

I’m confused. you’re saying Democrats do not allow for human nature? Was that your point, that libs are intolerant and judgemental? That we exclude people that feel, act, look and believe differently than us? I’m just a little confuse, if you could clear this up for me, it would be appreciated.

      • rimpy

they have no skill in legislating since they all squish human nature.

          • DaddyO_969

What upsets people is when others have FACTS and still refuse to see them. Like the religious right, GOP and other delusionals.

        • dagobarbz

Is it the Democrats enabling the banksters to continue looting our people?
Is it the Democrats demanding citizens ignore their human nature and eschew sex save for procreative purposes?
Is it the Democrats passing laws controlling my health care options?

          Are you confused or delusional?

          • rimpy

            first three Q answers: YES.
            4: neither.
But I will say you are.

          • dagobarbz

If you answered ‘yes’ to those three questions you are clearly the one out of touch. Please tell me which dems have closed down women’s health clinics.
Under whose regime were the banks let off leash?
Which Democrats are blaring about procreative sex being the only allowed in their fantasy theocracy?

None. So how can you even say that with a straight face if you’re sane and up to date on current events?

          • rimpy

on 2, the first part of the question: forcing us to ignore human nature. 3; is obvious- the scam of “free healthcare” became buy insurance or be arrested, WOW, freedom, eh?

On 1: who did obama bail out? BANKS. The reason given- bad mortgages. SO pay off the mortgages, the banks would have been fine, the people would have been fine. But no- just give it to (foreign, mostly ) BANKS

          • dagobarbz

And who set up the conditions in the first place? Your buddies at the GOP.

If you haven’t noticed, the obstructionists during this administration have been the GOP. THEY bailed out the banks, the President doesn’t have that much power. They voted.

The whole bank situation was enabled by the GOP, ALEC and friends. Reality does not progress in walled off chunks of administrations. New presidents inherit what’s gone before, and often get the blame for it. Silly, I know, but there it is.

As to 2. I have no idea how you managed to shift from controlling women’s health care choices to enforced health care under Obama. They are not the same issue.

What I am referring to is the horrific closure of women’s health clinics because of some stupid superstitious church’s undue influence in politics. I thought that was clear.

Congress bailed out the banks. the Supreme Court determined that Corporations Are People.

Mind you, Obama has put foxes in charge of several agencies; a monsanto guy for the FDA, a wall street pimp for the SEC, that is pretty horrible presidenting that suggests he’s a corporate bitch at heart, dealing with peripheral issues such as abortion and marriage equality progressively to keep the liberals dancing on his strings.

There are small differences between the GOP and Democrats, but there are huge friggin similarities people seem willing to ignore, content with their small wins as they are.

          • rimpy

actually barney frank and chris dodd blocked bush from correcting the mortgage mess demanding bad loans be written, then the dems stole the stock market and bernanke raised rates so that ARM’s reset too high and the collapse was on, LIKE CLOCKWORK.
the ONLY ones to benefit from it are DEMS, so how dare you blame Americans?

          • dominickJ

He’s certainly no where as Liberal as we might have liked and nothing like he’s portrayed by the GOP/Birthers etc. etc. I would liked to have seen more emphasis on correcting problems, rather than giving more of the same. But, the GOP would have had hissy fits over his choices. Hell, they already do.

          • dagobarbz

You’re right. It’s like second term, can’t be a third, suddenly swings around and bites the people who voted him in to office.

And now, oh yay!!! A war nobody wants in a nation where both sides of a civil war hate us. I am not lovin’ it.

Rimpy TARP 1 and 2 where enacted in 2008 WHEN Bush was the Dictator in Cheif
Obama was a Senator until Jan of 2009. If Obama was a real POL he should have let the economy IPLODE and then blame the depression on Bush for a Century

          • rimpy

some bailout what ever the name was, obama spread the cash to all the wrong places. As to blaming the RINO bush, the dems set up and caused the crash, planned years in advance, like communist pigs do.

          • DaddyO_969

You really do need to go back on your meds or just shut your pc down. You have absolutely nothing of value to add. Norquist. Gingrich. The DEMOCRATS try to regulate business, Republicans fight regulation every step of the way. Why? Even you should be able to figure that one out.

          • DaddyO_969

Typical republi-thug lies. The sad part is you see what’s happening and yet you believe what the right (wrong) wing tells you. He did bail out banks, but Bush set the law in motion (check your facts) and the banks have REPAID the money to the profit of the government. He also bailed out GM and Chrysler, saving millions of jobs and a major US industry. The stock the government bought to do so had gone up and up and is another profit item. And EVERY responsible study of the ACE proves EVERY right wing statement for what it is: A LIE.

        • DaddyO_969

Once again, you’ve confused humans with Republicans. Repression is a republi-thug trait. Every thing these ‘people’ have done is to repress individual choice and rights. Since you’re so in favor of that, why not go to Iran? You’ll be with millions of people who feel exactly as you do. They love to repress civil rights, women, education etc.etc.etc. That should make you feel right at home.

Gosh, I thought it was the GOP out to destroy America….Economically, of course.

        • DaddyO_969

Since it’s been the Republicans and their not-so-tame Tea Party helpers have been eroding our civil rights (the Patriot Act, X-Ray machines in airports), attempting to drive the country into bankruptcy (no taxes, no jobs, cutting services), voter suppression (restrictive laws, closing early voting, voting machines that are set to miscount votes), obvious racism (listen to any of the GOP’s rants about wetbacks, colored etc.), how you can think that Democrats are damaging the country, is beyond me. The Republicans gave birth to the Talibaggers and gave lunatics like the ass in the article a voice they never had nor deserve. When you want to assign blame, look no further than the people who’d deny you health care, pay private companies for education, force their religious beliefs on everyone else, purposefully obstruct the administration’s policies and brag about it. The evidence is clear to anyone whose eyes are open.

Coerced sex is still rape, isn’t it? Aren’t there court cases in the US that make forced marital sex a crime? This guy’s not 60 or 70 years old, either. He’s not from a previous generation where these ‘ideas’ were more prevalent. This is so sad. In the 21st Century there are still people who think this way.
