Steve Lonegan says he can stop Obamacare: “When I win, Obama will fold”

Republican  New Jersey Senate Candidate Steve Lonegan  said on Thursday that he has a way to single handedly stop Obamacare and help the GOP emerge victorious in its shutdown standoff, TPM reports.

in the statement issued by Lonegan’s campaign, it tells Republicans in Washington “not to capitulate to the president’s unreasonable demands” until after Wednesday’s special U.S. Senate election in New Jersey.

Even though Cory Booker is leading in the double digits, Lonegan believes he will win and in turn, his victory will cause Obama to give in to the Republican demands to stop the health care law.

Lonegan said arrogantly in the statement,”When I win, Obama will fold.”

Talking Points Memo reports, “My victory in this election on Wednesday will send a message to Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi that the American people want an end to Obamacare and the rest of the President’s radical agenda,” said Lonegan. “Republicans need to hold firm because seven days from today when Bob Menendez escorts me down the Senate aisle for my swearing in, the message about what our party should do will be clear for all.”

TPM has the full statement here.

That should add more voters to Cory’s side. I guess he didn’t get the memo. The voters want their Obamacare.

  • mea_mark

Talk about delusions of grandeur. Does this mean if he fails, Obama should hold tight that he is assured of winning because Lonegan lost? Of course all this assumes that things don’t go into a critical cascade of failures right before Thursday when the Treasury has to roll over notes and doesn’t have the money to do it.

Not getting along well with others, the true mark of the extreme right wing fringe TP’er!

  • fantagor

Hey, Capt. Mathematics: this Senate special election has zero impact on the politics of the Senate. Regardless of who wins, Democrats control the gavel, and the GOP will continue to use the filibuster as a cudgel.

  • Darrell West

Somebody need to tell this moron that Obamacare is a done deal and to get over it.

  • Scorpie

This fool thinks that Ms.Palin and Mr.Levin will pull him to victory. He really is an idiot.

  • mrsgunka

TP illusions of grandeur! Doesn’t he know about the curse of Palin?

    • Linda1961

He will find out on Wednesday.

  • Carla Stixs

    Bring it on Bozo!

  • Cosmic_Surfer

What a really sad joke… This guy proves only that politicians can say anything and there will be someone who believes it

  • Linda1961

Thank goodness Quitter Palin is campaigning for Lonegan! His chances weren’t good before, but the Palin Curse will ensure a Cory Booker victory.

BTW, if a Lonegan victory means that Obama will fold, doesn’t that mean a Booker victory means that Congressional gopers will fold?

  • Glenna Jones-Kachtik

Hope springs eternal…Let’s hope Cory Booker wins in a landslide….then we can sit back & see what this doofus says after that….

  • ladyliberal

As an ex-New Jerseyan i can vouch for the fact that Republican politicians from NJ are notoriously stupid and in denial. I t was a great state before the rethuglicans got involved in its government. Lonegan proves that .

Now, now, lets not over intellectualize this.

You have me intrigued, mea_mark. What’s your secret identity?

  • Mick Rusk

Is this guy been praying at the Bachmann church? The Church of the Lost and Delusional?

  • jokr8790

OMFG talk about delusions of bare competence. This is the same guy who said if somebody has cancer he really doesn’t give a crap he doesn’t want to pay for them to get government help. They should simply die and maybe he’ll pray for them. He actually said he intends to be just as callous as he needs to be.

  • paulmckc

Reminds me of the promise Michele Bachmann made when she said she could bring down the price of gas to $2.00 a gallon.

I wish he had an idea instead of a statement from on top of his desk. Where he can look over the top of the cubicle walls… forget it, it’s a visual thing. :-)

  • mea_mark

If I told you, it wouldn’t be a secret.

Well-said. I think that the logo you use fascinates me. I’m interested in iconography graphics generally. It caught my attention and haven’t seen it anywhere before. Can you share its meaning?
