On Tuesday a Dallas police officer was arrested for allegedly forcing a woman to have sex with him in exchange for not arresting her on an outstanding warrant.
According to WFAA, On Sept. 9th, Ofc. La’Cori Johnson, 28, stopped a man and a woman while in his marked police cruiser. Johnson performed a computer check on the victim and the witness. According to an arrest affidavit, he then told the male witness to leave the location and told the victim she had a warrant out for her arrest.
Johnson then promised she would not go to jail if she would have sex with him, according to Assistant Chief Brigitte Gassaway. The woman then got in the back of Johnson’s squad car.
The Affidavit reads, “Suspect Johnson observed the Complainant crying and stated, “Why are you crying? You don’t have to go to jail if you do what I tell you to do.”
The officer then drove to a dead end street and parked the car. It was at that point Johnson got into the backseat and took off his gun belt and had her perform oral sex on him, the affidavit alleges. He is then accused of having sex with her.
The document says, “The Complainant performed the sex acts because she was afraid of Suspect Johnson because he was an armed police officer and afraid of going to jail.”
After the victim walked home she told her mother what happened. On Oct. 4th of last year she notified the department and the internal investigation began Jan. 24, 2014, according to Lt. Max Geron, a Dallas police spokesman.
On Tuesday, Johnson resigned from the department. He was then arrested and taken to the Dallas County Jail. He is charged with sexual assault, a second-degree felony that carries a sentence of between two to 20 years and a fine of up to $10,000. He is being held on $25,000 bond, according to WFAA.
