3-year-old boy shoots 17-month-old baby sister in North Carolina

A 17-month-old North Carolina girl was shot by her 3-year-old brother, according to an investigator with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department. The shooting which deputies say appears to be ‘accidental’ occurred on Thursday morning.

The investigator told Channel 9 the boy shot his sister in the upper body with the father’s .9 millimeter handgun.










The children’s mother alerted 911 around 11:30 a.m. who then drove the child to a local medical center. She was then transported to Levine Children’s Hospital.

The child is expected to survive.

Sheriff’s deputies said they will contact the district attorney to determine if charges should be filed.
