Child Shot At Pee Wee Football Game By Nearby Hunter

A 10-year-old Arkansas boy was shot during a pee wee football game Saturday at 1:45 p.m, according to Forrest City police.

The boy suffered non life threatening injuries to his left foot, police said.

“When he was really bleeding he told my son-in-law ‘Daddy, daddy I’m going to die; I’ve been shot.’ He said ‘No son you’re not going to die.'”

Dena Busby said her grandson McCoy Landsford was shot in the foot on Saturday while watching a pee wee football game in Forrest City, Arkansas, WMCAction News reports.

“When my daughter called me I just screamed. She told me ‘Mama calm down.’ I just freaked out,” Busby said.

The boy is now at a local hospital for treatment.

Police said they have one person of interest in this shooting, but no charges have been filed. Police are investigating the shooting as a hunting accident, according to WREG.

The football field is next to a wooded area, where a hunter fired his weapon, hitting the child who was on the field.

“Why would a grown man have a gun where there is a bunch of children playing ball?” Busby said.

“We just need to hold our children and always tell them we love them,” Busby added.
