A petition which was posted to Change.org is asking for the open carry of guns to be permitted at the Republican National Convention in July and we think that is a splendid idea. In Ohio, openly carrying freedom weapons is totally legal and that agenda has been pushed by Conservatives so they should be proud at the RNC to allow this practice at their convention, don’t you think?
This petition follows one of the most acidic campaign seasons yet which features Donald Trump as the GOP’s front-runner who has suggested there may be ‘riots’ if he is not the nominee.
This year’s convention will be held in Cleveland, Ohio. The petition which is addressed to Quicken Loans Arena, the National Rifle Association and Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, has garnered
6,329 7,016 37,431 signatures in just three days time.
It’s also addressed to presidential candidates Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
The petition states, in part:
According to the policy on their website, “firearms and other weapons of any kind are strictly forbidden on the premises of Quicken Loans Arena.”
This is a direct affront to the Second Amendment and puts all attendees at risk. As the National Rifle Association has made clear, “gun-free zones” such as the Quicken Loans Arena are “the worst and most dangerous of all lies.” The NRA, our leading defender of gun rights, has also correctly pointed out that “gun free zones… tell every insane killer in America… (the) safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk.” (March 4, 2016 and Dec. 21, 2012)
US News reports:
According to the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action, state law “does not prohibit the open carrying of firearms except in certain locations, but a person should exercise caution when carrying a firearm in public.”
The policy at the Quicken Loans Arena, where the convention is set to take place, says otherwise.
According to the arena’s rules, “weapons of any kind, including pepper spray, pocket knives and/or blades” are prohibited.
“We are all too familiar with the mass carnage that can occur when citizens are denied their basic God-given rights to carry handguns or assault weapons in public,” the petition reads.
“We must take a stand. We cannot allow the national nominating convention of the party of Lincoln and Reagan to be hijacked by weakness and political correctness. The policies of the Quicken Loans Arena do not supersede the rights given to us by our Creator in the U.S. Constitution,” the petition adds.
We think this is a fine idea. Conservatives and their candidates can show us how guns are not scary. Republicans allowed Open Carry to be legal. It’s their baby and now they suddenly hate freedom:(
The petition is gaining traction.
