This is yuge! Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), who is not on the Judiciary Committee vetting Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions, will apparentky sit in a witness chair Wednesday and give his opinion on the reasons Sessions should not be confirmed.
“I do not take lightly the decision to testify against a Senate colleague,” said Senator Booker in a statement. “But the immense powers of the attorney general, combined with the deeply troubling views of this nominee is a call to conscience.”
Senator Sessions is slowly replacing Senator McConnell as the biggest a-hole in Congress. From his disgusting efforts at suppressing minority voters to his soft embrace of the Klu Klux Klan, Sessions typifies the intellectually and morally bankrupt state of today’s Republican Party.
Booker’s testimony is scheduled for Wednesday at the Judiciary Committee, where he will join witnesses including the new chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rep. Cedric Richmond of Louisiana, and civil rights legend Rep. John Lewis of Georgia.
The attorney general is responsible for ensuring the fair administration of justice, and based on his record, I lack confidence that Sen. Sessions can honor this duty,” Booker said
Senator Booker is the real deal and does not mess around when it comes to trampling on civil rights. He’ll make mincemeat out of sessions and make him ask permission to stop.
