Donald Trump says that he and his administration were not responsible for the now widely debunked claim that British intelligence agency GCHQ spied on him at Trump Tower during the campaign at the behest of former President Barack Obama.

That’s right, it wasn’t him. It was Fox News and its senior judicial analyst, Andrew Napolitano. Yeah, Fox and Napolitano, that’s the ticket.

For those who have never heard of Andrew Napolitano, he is a former New Jersey Superior Court judge-turned-media-commentator who frequently appears on Fox & Friends and discusses current affairs on the O’Reilly Factor and Fox Business Network. He is also the host of a right-wing talk radio program, Freedom Watch.

In a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel Friday, a German reporter asked Trump about his claim last week stating that Obama wiretapped his phones. 45 has insisted on standing by that claim even though it’s been proven false, even by Republicans.

“We said nothing. All we did was quote a certain, very talented legal mind who was the one responsible for saying that on television,” Trump responded. “I didn’t make an opinion on it. That was a statement made by a very talented lawyer on Fox. And so you shouldn’t be talking to me. You should be talking to Fox. Okay?”

So now, according to Trump, it’s all the fault of “fake news,” err, Fox News and the talented legal mind of one Judge Andrew Napolitano, who appeared on Fox & Friends to discuss the baseless claim.

As reported:

During this programme, Mr Napolitano said that if Mr Obama spied on Trump Towers, there may not be any evidence to prove it.

He went on to say that when a president orders a surveillance operation, it will usually leave a paper trial of some form.

He then claimed that in Mr Obama’s case, he may have gone to a British intelligence agency to seek external help, so as not to leave any evidence that a wiretap took place.

“Three intelligence sources have informed Fox News that President Obama went outside the chain of command,” he said. “He didn’t use the NSA, he didn’t use the CIA, he didn’t use the FBI, and he didn’t use the Department of Justice.”

Fact is, none of Napolitano’s claim has been proven true. Fox News, Trump and his administration have shown nothing to that backs up the claim either.

GCHQ has expressed their concerns to the White House about promoting the claim in the White House press corps briefing led by press secretary Sean Spicer on Thursday.

The White House later apologized for Spicer’s comments but have since walked back that apology.

Bottom line is — is Donald Trump able to handle high-level situations, or even his Twitter feed?

Considering this latest debacle, I would suggest that the answer is no. Now that Donald Trump feels cornered, and there is no way is he backing down from his wiretapping claim, he’s just decided to blame someone else for it.

Here’s the thing: Intelligent voters know that Donald Trump is the biggest f*ckin’ liar ever and don’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth. Problem is, this president has now lost all credibility abroad, too.
