White House press secretary Sean Spicer was expected to join National security adviser H.R. McMaster during Tuesday’s briefing, but instead, he just introduced him. The White House is attempting damage control after amateur president Donald Trump revealed highly sensitive information to Russian officials. After McMaster implied yesterday – although he was very careful with his wording – that Trump didn’t reveal sensitive data to the Russians, Trump himself confirmed it this morning on Twitter.
McMaster is now saying that Trump did not know where the intelligence he shared with Russian officials was from, therefore he did not endanger national security. He said that Trump’s disclosure of the information was “wholly appropriate.”
“The president wasn’t even aware of where this information came from,” he said. “He wasn’t briefed on the source.”
McMaster then said the real issue are the leakers who revealed the contents of the discussion to media outlets.
“I think the real issue and what I would like to see debated more is that our national security has been put at risk by those violating confidentiality,” he said. “I think national security is put at risk by this leak and leaks like this.”
This is how the briefing ended:

Trump threw McMaster under the bus this morning, then later on, McMaster basically said it’s cool the alleged president revealed highly sensitive information pertaining to ISIS because he didn’t know where the intelligence came from.
The data is said to have come from an American ally via a sensitive intelligence sharing arrangement. Still yet, McMaster said that Trump “wasn’t even aware where this information came from” and “wasn’t briefed on the sources and methods”.
We’re not sure which is more concerning: Trump being unaware. Trump bragging to the Russians that he had intel. Or his apologists who are allowing him to do this. It will happen again and they will all be complicit.
Psst! The leaker lives in the White House.
