A Florida billionaire who donates regularly to the Republican Party says he’s really upset with the cowardice of some of his party’s federal officials who don’t stand up to President Donald Trump. And, Raw Story reports, he’s letting them have it.
Will Trump feel the sting of this burn?
“All the Republicans who hide behind the flag and hide behind the church, they don’t have the f*cking balls to do what it takes,” said Florida billionaire Mike Fernandez in a telephone interview with Politico.
Fernandez poured a staggering $3.5 million attacking then-candidate Trump in 2016, funneling $3 million into Jeb Bush’s campaign. Now he has a few words for the rest of the Republican Party. In response to an email fundraising solicitation, he said:
I am out of the political process. Too disgusted, too expensive, too supportive of egomaniacs whose words have the value of quicksand.
It is demoralizing to me to see adults worshiping a false idol. I can’t continue to write checks for anyone. I know what it’s like to lose a country.
Fernandez really dislikes Trump
The fellow billionaire had some particularly unflattering words for Trump, calling him an “abortion of a human being.”
If I was the doctor and knew what that baby would do, I’d have made sure it never would have seen the light of day.
Fernandez, who actually is a doctor, chairs MBF Healthcare Partners.
He also ripped Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who is a former CEO of Exxon Mobil, for joining the administration and catering to Trump’s every whim.
Why give up your own thought process? This is someone who rose through the ranks of corporate America and probably has more money than Trump does because [Trump] does not have what he says he has.
His anger wasn’t just aimed at Washington, D.C., however. Fernandez, who lives in Miami, Florida, says there’s no one in Tallahassee that he is interested in supporting, Politico notes. Fernandez briefly worked for governor Rick Scott as the finance chairman for his reelection committee, but soon quit, sending an email blasting the “paranoia” of some of the consultants running Scott’s campaign.
He is probably the smartest, hardest working man I’ve ever met, but to lead you must have empathy. He is emotionless. There is no passion, no sense of obligation, there is only a sense of self-advancement.
Fernandez said he has no intention of supporting any Republican in the Florida 2018 election. And he’s been feuding with with the new Florida House Speaker, Jose R. Oliva, who voted against a half-cent sales tax increase to benefit Miami-Dade College.
I said ‘who made you the people’s dictator?’
It’s wonderful to see one of Trump’s own kind rake him over the coals. It’s a well-deserved raking.
